What good would it do to legalize marijuana?
legalize marijuana December 11th, 2009First of all, if the United States legalize marijuana then there are still going to be drug issues in Mexico and Mexico may decide not to legalize it.
Second, if marijuana was legalized then does that mean that we would be seeing teenage children smoking on the streets? What good would that do?
Thirdly, how will legalizing marijuana make the drug wars stop?

I agreeeeee
Megan wants a millionaire cancelled. Somehow I ended up at some site that sells insurances or W/E (www.buy-insurance-online.info). I clicked one of the sites links, and they were using Megan wants a millionaire cancelled theme. Who cares? When will companies stop this kind of advertisement? After I clicked on the site (www.buy-insurance-online.info) link to one of their advertisers, I was shocked at how low they went to sell their product. They want to appeal to Megans fan base… Let boycott http://www.buy-insurance-online.info and their advertisers….

Legalizing Marijuana would only be pumping money into the gov’ts pocket… Because marijuana would finally have tax put on it. That’s the only thing I can think of. ;]

i know, marijuana is still smoked now even when people aren’t allowed to, it’s just known. supposedly, by legalizing it, it would help people that have depression or some kind of sickness, not sure what kind though. The wars won’t stop if its legalized anyway, so this law can become an outrage

good questions it will not help anything but maybe the government get some tax money from it. But in my opinion it would do more harm than good. Seriously, They should have left alcohol Prohibitions too because the death rate is so astronomical in so many ways even those that don’t drink or abuse get hurt and killed. I could go on and on about this but I will stop now.

1. Oh, too bad, We don’t live in Mexico.
2. The smoking age for tobacco and other tobacco and smoking products is 18. So we won’t see that many kids smoking it. And if we do, too bad.
3. Marijuana won’t count as much if it’s legalized, because you won’t have to pay the people you buy it rom for sneaking it. Also, you could just grow your own, and no one will bother you about it.
I don’t and never plan on smoking pot, but those who do get high do it because of the way it makes them feel. I’m not proud of people who do, but i don’t hate them either.

1. who cares about mexico, their entire economy is based on smuggling drugs into america. 2. can children legally drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes? (the answer is no in case you didn’t know) so why would they be aloud to smoke pot. 3. Drug wars are caused by the fact that it takes a criminal to sell drugs, you take the criminal out of the equation, you stop the violence.

first of all, marijuana is already widely used by both adults and children so legalizing wouldnt cause much of an increase in usage. second, legalizing could allow the government to regulate usage and possibly prevent some of it. also, the gov. could tax marijuana, causing it to be more expensive for potential users, and allow the government to profit off of a now illegal $Billion industry. third, although marijuana is a dangerous substance, it is not addictive(compared to tobacco and alcohol), and is proven to be less dangerous and altering than alcohol, a legal substance.

People on here would quit asking whens marijuana going to be legalized etc.
December 12th, 2009 at 12:54 am
It would take out pot smokers out of jail and more deserving people in prison.
1. Idc I don’t live in Mexico
2. Tabacco age is 18 and alcohol age is 21. If teenager gets caught they should get in trouble.

I am against legalizing marijuana, but there are some good points to it for medical reasons. The only good thing I can think of is that it keeps patients comfortable. It would not make drug wars stop and it would not help anyone in Mexico. There is no guarantee that it can make drug usage stop because there are so many people using it that are not medical patients with pain. Even for pain it is pointless because there are many other pain pills out there that doctors could use.

So who cares what mexico (other countries) do.
As opposed to teenage children smoking cigarettes on the streets? Lol a much much much much much worse drug. Also, weed isnt the kind of drug that you walk around and do – its more of a chillout thing like when you have a few beers with some buddies. So it wouldnt be as out in the open as you make out.
The drug wars wont stop because weed isnt the only illegal drug but certainly one of the biggest income generating drugs for the drug dealers and criminals is going to be weed, getting rid of this will stop some of their funding meaning they can generate less. Not an end but better.
Lastly, weed is so very misrepresented – from the government propaganda to the denial of scientific evidence which shows quite simply that weed is NOT THAT BAD!
Edit: Cannabis is not physically addictive at all! It’s only people who have a mental dependcy on it who appear addicted – but thats purely psychological and it happens to people who otherwise would become alcoholics or severly obese (very addictive personalities)

First of all:There will always be drug issues, however there would be far fewer over Marijuana. If it is legalized then legal local growers would become the major suppliers. Drug trade in Marijuana would drastically lower because the majority of people would just walk INSIDE a 711 and buy a Coke, some Doritos and a pack of joints instead of going to their dealer Kenny in the parking lot. Not to mention the cost would go down. Say there are (NOT exact figures, lol) 20000 growers, and 3 million smokers. Each grower has only the amount he can grow and KEEP HIDDEN. The risk and limited quantities that the current situation causes would be reduced to almost nil by legalization. Less/No risk, more plants = lower cost.
Second: Most likely, Marijuana would be put under the same or similar restrictions as alcohol. Kids already smoke it now, but if it were legal, instead of going to prison for a minimum of 4 years and having their lives ruined with a felony charge, they would be caught under the same laws governing underage use. A much fairer and more applicable punishment for the crime.
Thirdly: Imagine a world where J-walking were on the same level as attempted murder.
With Marijuana you have midnight raids on civilian homes, non-violent and often one-time offenders put in prison for years, teenagers with felonies on their record for life, accidental deaths because a drug bust hit the wrong house, overcrowded prisons and all for something that has no victim. Something that is made a crime simply to ‘protect people from themselves’.
Police, the court system, prisons, etc would be freed to devote their limited time, money and manpower on crimes that MERIT the attention Marijuana gets.
This is not to mention the medicinal benefits that legalization would bring. As a plant that a person can NOT overdose on, can self medicate, that has NONE of the adverse side effects of other drugs used to treat similar problems (Glaucoma, chemotherapy nausea, arthritis, anorexia, insomnia among MANY MANY others). Many people would quit drinking alcohol (a FAR WORSE drug. More damaging and dangerous in almost every way).

Legalizing marijuana would be beneficial. It prevents cancer, its a pain reliever and isn’t harmful like alcohol. If it wasn’t illegal, an individual would most likely have to be 18 to buy it.
